UON Latest News Today: Students at the University of Nairobi, Hope Nabalayo and Ariel Major, emerged winners of the Asharami Synergy creative writing competition.

The competition announced last year attracted two hundred and twenty-five submissions from university students who sent in essays, poems, and plays on “creating a sustainable path for Africa’s energy transition.”

The competition is aimed at fostering greater understanding and participation of youth in climate action, energy transition discourse, and sustainability.

At an award ceremony held at KCA University, Nairobi, Cheryl Omolo, of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, emerged third.

Julius Musya Kilonzo, of Baraton University and Nelson Gichuki of Kisii University emerged fourth and fifth, respectively.

Creativity, originality, and ability to convey compelling messages capable of facilitating the participation of young Kenyans in Africa’s March towards energy access and sustainability stood out for the winning entries.

The top five winners received cash prizes, plaques, and certificates for their excellent performance.

1. For the Registered Online Users, to log in, use the Registration Number. The year of registration must be in full eg ../2022.
2. Type your Student Registration Number.
3. Then type your Password. Use your National ID, Passport Number, KCSE Index Number, or Registered Mobile Number as your initial password. Point to Note; The Digits and Letters in the Registration Number. In C01/.. the digit 0 is (Zero) and NOT the letter O and in I20/.. the Letter is I and NOT Digit 1 (One)
4. Click on Login.

How to register on the UON student portal

If you are a new student, to register you will need to have your Application Reference Number.

At the bottom of the registration page, enter this reference number as it appears in your Letter of Offer.

• Then click on “Get Allocated Registration Number” to get your allocated Student Registration Number.After you get the Registration number, follow the instructions thereafter to complete the registration process.

  How to register for a course unit

  1. Log in using the student portal username and password.
  2. Select enroll for a course.
  3. Select category e.g Ph.D. (Doctorate students), Graduate (Postgraduate Students), or Undergraduate (Bachelors and Diplomas).
  4. Select an academic program.
  5. Register for course Units under your academic programs by selecting the icon next to the course title (a student must register for each course unit).

  How to access course materials

  1. Login,
  2. Select a course,
  3. Select the document to access handouts,
  4. Select Assignment to check or upload assignments,
  5. Select a forum to have an online discussion on a given topic with classmates or group members,
  6. Select chat to have a real-time discussion on a given topic with other students online.
