Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU)is a public university located in Vihiga County, Western Region of Kenya.It was established in 2015 as a constituent university of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and received its full charter on August 2, 2022, becoming the only university in Vihiga County.
The college is known for its motto, “Spring of Knowledge” , and is accredited by the Commission on University Education (CUE).

KAFU is divided into five schools offering degree, diploma, and certificate courses:
  • School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS): Offers courses such as Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science/French), Social Work, and Criminology.
  • School of Health (SoHS): Known for offering programs in Optometry (Bachelor to PhD), Nursing, and Clinical Medicine.

  • Location: Located in the Kaimosi area, approximately 500 meters from the Chavakali-Kapsabet road, between the towns of Shamakhokho and Cheptul.
  • Environment: The campus is located within a tranquil tropical forest setting, covering 203 acres, making it an ideal location for studies and research.

Application Procedures for Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU)

1. How to Apply: Step-by-Step Instructions (Online vs. Manual)
KAFU offers applicants two main application pathways: the quicker online method and the traditional manual submission method.

A. Online Application (Recommended)
This is the preferred and most direct method for submitting your application.

  • Visit the Portal: Go to the official KAFU admissions platform: https://kafu.jiunge.com/
  • Sign Up: Create an account on the Jiunge platform by entering your personal details and verifying your email address.
    Programme Application: Log in and navigate to the program application section. Select the course you wish to apply for.
    Pay Application Fee: Pay the required non-refundable application fee through Jiunge App (see section 4 for application fee) directly through the platform.
    Review & Feedback: The application will be reviewed. Check your email for official feedback and next steps from the KAFU Registry department.

B. Manual Application (Download, Print, & Submit)
Applicants may also choose to download the relevant application form, fill it out manually, and submit it physically.

  • Download Form: Download the appropriate application form from the KAFU website (see section 3).
  • Complete: Fill out the form completely and accurately.
  • Attach Documents: Attach certified copies of all necessary academic certificates, national ID/birth certificate, and transcripts.
  • Pay Fee: Pay the non-refundable application fee via Jiunge app
  • Submit: Submit the completed form, required documents, and bank deposit slip to the Registrar (Academic Affairs) at Kaimosi Friends University.

2. Application Deadlines/Intakes
KAFU typically conducts admissions for its programs based on the main academic year cycle.
Major Intake: The primary intake for new students (including KUCCPS-placed students) is generally in September (e.g., the beginning of the Academic Year).

This procedure outlines the steps required for all newly admitted Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) students to complete their admissions process and register.

Phase 1: Online Document Access (Pre-Reporting)
The first phase involves accessing all necessary documents online via the designated portals.

Step 1: Access the Admission Portal or Kafu.Jiunge.com
Navigate to the official KAFU Admission Portal (or the designated Jiunge portal link on the main university website).

Login or Sign Up:

  1. KUCCPS Students: Sign up via Jiunge website
  2. Self-Sponsored: Visit admission portal, type your KCSE Index Number without appending /2025 (e.g., 11111111111). and click on the link to download your letter
  3. Complete Profile: Ensure your bio-data/profile is fully entered and download your letter(This applies for KUCCPS students)

Step 2: Download all Mandatory documents

  1. Complete Mandatory Forms: Fill out all forms printed from the Joining Instructions, including the Students Personal Details Form (KAF/3) and the Consent Form.
  2. Pay Fees: Pay the required first-semester fees. Fees are typically paid Jiunge App
  3. Gather Documents: Assemble all forms and documents, ensuring you have both originals and photocopies.

Phase 2: Physical Registration and Orientation (On Campus)
This phase begins on the official reporting date listed in your Admission Letter/Orientation Programme.

Step 4: Report to Campus and Begin Registration

  1. Arrival: Arrive at KAFU on the specified registration dates (usually the first two days of the programme, e.g., Day 1 & 2: September 1st & 2nd).
  2. Venue: Proceed to the main registration area (often the Assembly Hall or designated halls).

Step 5: Complete the Verification and Data Entry Process

  2. E-Learning: Attend the ICT Directorate session to get your student email and learn how to access the KAFU E-Learning Portal for your course materials.
  3. Matriculation: Attend the formal Matriculation Ceremony (usually the final day of orientation) to officially join the University.
