CONFUSION AT THE NHIF FOLLOWING SYSTEM ERROR

Shocking details have emerged about an error in the NHIF system.

Appearing before the National Assembly Public Investments Committee to respond to audit queries, the NHIF acting boss Nicodemus Odongo said that about 70, 000 Kenyans have been affected by the anomalies.

According to Mr Odongo, the NHIF collects up to sh 3.2 billion in a month from its members.

Angered by this revelation, Wajir North MP Ahmed Abdisalan pointed a finger at the NHIF for endangering the lives of poor Kenyans.

Thousands of Kenyans have been barred from accessing health services despite having a valid NHIF card since their details are not reflected in the NHIF system.

The affected members cannot, therefore, access services despite paying sh 35 million.

WRONG DETAILS
NHIF acting CEO Nicodemus Odongo told the parliamentary committee that most NHIF members who contribute using M-PESA pay bill gave wrong details.

This explains why their contributions cannot reflect in the system.
Mr Odongo gave an estimated number of about 70, 000 people who have been affected by this anomaly.

He promised to give the exact number of affected members after two days.
