CS Magoha has finally addressed the issue of school fees payments for both public and private learning institutions.
Appearing before the Education Parliamentary Committee, CS Magoha made it clear that no public school parent or guardian will be asked to pay school fees since the government usually meets the cost of tuition and examinations for all learners in primary and secondary schools.
“The Government pays for tuition and examination for all pupils and students in primary and secondary schools,” so there is nothing to waive,” said Magoha.

School fees for private schools
When requested by Members of Parliament to extend the free education waiver to private schools, CS Magoha said it will be a difficult decision given that it was the parents or guardians who preferred private schools to public ones.
“It is very difficult that the government still has to extend the money from the exchequer for tuition to private schools too, despite the parents’ choice to leave the free government schools for private schools. We may need to reconsider this,” said Magoha.
Brookhouse’s school fees row
CS Magoha’s response comes at a time when parents with learners at Brookhouse international school were forced to seek the intervention of the court over the exorbitant fee demands by the school.
The parents expressed their dissatisfaction after the school forced them to meet the cost of electricity, food, internet, printing, teaching, and supervising kids through online learning platforms.
Some private schools have also been conducting online tuition for learners and asking parents to meet the cost.
