Coronavirus: Kenya Shifts to E-learning and Live Broadcast Lessons for Primary and Secondary School Learners

Kenyan Learners to Continue Learning Through Radio and Television Lessons.

The Kenyan Government through the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, KICD with collaboration with other key stakeholders in the education sector is planning to start airing live broadcast of lessons for learners in Grade three up to form four level.

This intervention comes as some Universities such as Mount Kenya University, MKU opt for E-learning to ensure that learning is not halted as a result of Coronavirus pandemic in Kenya.

Besides, Masters and PhD students at the University of Nairobi have been advised to continue working with their supervisors to complete their research on time.

Digital lessons for primary and secondary school Kenyan Learners

According to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Chief Executive Officer Joel Mabonga, Education Channel will continue airing digital lessons for learners at Grade three up to form four levels.

The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, KBC will expand live broadcast of lessons for more than two hours.

KBC will now air live lessons for 7 hours a day. It will also create a second channel to air Kiswahili lessons for one hour.

This is good news since Kenyan Learners will watch and learn through electronic means for eight hours daily.
