TSC TPD Courses 2021 An Eyesore to Teachers. A Special Message For TSC Boss Dr. Nancy Macharia- Teacher Resigns After Delivering this Special Message
TSC News 2021-2022: The introduction of mandatory TSC Teacher Professional Development, TPD, Modules for all teachers is an eyesore for the already frustrated Kenyan teachers.
Teachers in Kenya have not even healed from the latest blow which saw KUPPET, KNUT and KUSNET drive the last nail onto their coffin when the aforementioned unions signed a non-monetary Collective bargaining agreement CBA 2021-2025 in spite of the hard economic times steered by the Covid-19 pandemic, ballooning wage bill among other factors.
Yesterday, a powerful message was delivered and the speaker compared teaching to a bad marriage. This message clearly shows that teachers have been facing frustrations not only in Kenya but across the globe. Lack of respect and resources are some of the biggest reasons why teachers want to abandon the noble profession and chat other paths.

Recently, there were reports of a teacher at Shawnee Mission School District who decided to resign on the spot after pouring out her heart to the whole world.
Amanda Coffman reported that her friend at one time left the profession and told her that teaching is like a bad marriage; you never get your needs met but you have to stay in it for the kids.
The most important lesson that the teacher offered to the many teachers that are across the world is that ‘just because you can doesn’t mean you should”. Amanda stated that respect in the teaching profession does not have to be earned but it is owed to the teachers as human beings especially by those who have power over them. She said that disrespect in an uneven power dynamic is bullying and whenever it is seen teachers must call it out and even when it is hard.
The teacher said that it should be condemned even when it comes at a cost. Amanda stated that intellectual bullying is a bad thing in life and it should never be accepted. She stated that she could recall her entry to the teaching profession when she used to smile and take the contract but she never knew the many lies that exist in the profession. Her message to teachers is powerful and it is shocking that teachers in the US are leaving the profession in an alarming numbers.
Amanda stated that teachers should not accept to be treated as lesser human beings. Lawyer Esther Ang’awa has echoed her remarks and said that “teachers deserve better, our children deserve better” Her message to the government, school boards, the teachers employer, TSC is that they should listen to teachers. However, the big question is will TSC give an ear to the teachers? Will their cries be heard?
