TSC Issues fresh orders on schools reopening

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC has issued new directives to all teachers in Kenya.

The new orders are aimed at clearing the air about whether teachers should continue reporting to their work stations in anticipation for reopening of schools after President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to declare the official schools’ reopening date during his speech on Monday.

According to the Commission, teachers should not shelve their responsibilities now that the official reopening date has not been released.

TSC: Heads to operationalize clock-in and out register in schools

Heads and Principals have now been directed to supervise the clock in and out register for teachers in all schools.

Besides, teachers should take this opportunity to prepare adequately their TSC documents including filling their TPAD data, prepare lesson plans, lesson notes and schemes of work.

Class sizes should also be sliced to accommodate 20 learners per classroom to ensure social distance is maintained.

This directive comes at a time when confusion seems to reign supreme in the education sector.

Nothing seems to be working with the proposed community based learning having hit a dead end a few months ago.

Teachers had already signed up for the program but due to unknown reasons, it was never implemented.

TSC Recruitment Exercise is still on

In addition to this, the planned TSC recruitment exercise which had been earlier postponed to Monday September 2020 is yet to kick off.

The applicants claim that they have not received any formal invitation to attend the interviews.

County offices have also not received the merit lists for the applicants to offset the recruitment.

Yeaterday, a circular claiming that the Teachers Service Commission had called off the exercise citing loss of applicants’ data due to an ICT error went viral.

According to the circilar which the TSC speedily dismissed and disowned, all applicants were to reapply for the over 11, 000 vacancies.

TSC however dismissed the circular, terming it fake.

Applicants are still anxiously waiting for the commission’s next move.

Magoha reopens universities and colleges

Other education news reaching out media team indicate light at the end of the tunnel especially for final year students in colleges and universities.

This is after CS Magoha announced the reopening of universities and colly for face to face learning as from October 5.
