<p>Kindly note that the official release of the 2021 KCPE results (2022) is now live at Mtihani House. The dignataries present have already been identified including the CS Education, TSC CEO and KNEC CEO, the Principal Secretary in Charge of Basic Education Belio Kipsang, Professor Fatuma Chege-KICD Boss among others.</p>
<p>This is good news to over 1.2 million KCPE candidates who recently sat for the summative KCPE 2021 tests between March 7 and March 9, 2022.</p>
<p>The KNEC boss acknowledged the incessant efforts of key stakeholders who have worked hand in hand with the council to preserve the integrity of the 2021 KCPE national examinations.</p>
<p>The &#8220;elephant in the room&#8221; dubbed KCPE leakage once again reared its ugly head this year. Proponents and peddlers of KCPE leakages meant to confuse the candidates have received a stern warning and advised to shun this practice before the long arm of the government catches up withy them.</p>
<p>All the 1.2 million candidates who sat for the 2021/2022 KCPE results wil join secondary schools come May 2022 despite the marks attained as per the 100 per cent transition policy.</p>
<p>During the live release of this year&#8217;s KCPE results, the TSC Boss Dr. Macharia noted that teachers are fully equipped to receive all the 1.2 million candidates.</p>

<h4><strong>Knec News Today:</strong> The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, <strong>KCPE</strong>, is set to commence tomorrow on Monday at Exactly 8:00 a.m. where hundreds of thousands of pupils will be sitting their final tests of the Primary School level. The KCPE 2021 national exams come three months later than the normal November dates for the tests.</h4>
<p> ;</p>
<p>The exams, through the years have always been done in November of every year but this year, they will be administered in March following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 that greatly disrupted the education calendar.</p>
<p>The Ministry of Education is trying to do its best to ensure that things return to normalcy. Some of the concerted efforts encompass squeezed term dates, reduced holiday breaks and reduced marking time.</p>
<p>Although the terms have been greatly squeezed to accelerate the transition of learners from one level to the other the pressure had been shifted to teachers and learners who have been forced to go an extra mile to cover the syllabus on time and meet the set deadlines.</p>
<p>However, as the exams start tomorrow, we have received reports of new changes that have been introduced in the KCPE exam room that have not been in existence before.</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p>According to KTN News this afternoon, students will not be allowed to have handkerchiefs, wristwatches and ties in the exam room.</p>
<p><span style="text-transform: initial;">These changes, have been introduced after the pandemic set it to minimize cases of cheating and the centers have had to brief the students on the changes.</span></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>KCPE Leakage 2021: Truth about the KNEC KCPE Examinations Leakage this Year</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Last year, tension had gripped KCPE candidates after tutors alleged that KNEC lifted the 2020 KCPE&#8217;s Social Studies and English exams from two Revision books that had been widely circulated to Class 8 candidates prior to sitting the exams in March 2021.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The candidates, mostly those in private schools had already done the tests in February 2021 after purchasing the books published by Distinction Educational Publishers.</strong></p>
<p><strong>KUPPET and KNUT fault KCPE national exams after leakage allegations rose</strong></p>
<p><strong>“When a similar test is predicted and it appears in the KNEC exams, then it shows there was a leakage. The credibility and reliability of national exams is tarnished,” Sossion told the Nation on Thursday, March 25.</strong></p>
<p><strong>“Even though exams are set from learning material available, KNEC going on to publish the same tests indicates that we have a serious issue with our exam process,” Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Secretary-General, Akelo Misori added.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Exam stakeholders thus raised various questions among them being whether KNEC tendered the publishers to set the exams as well as how the council will rectify the error as schools that had done the tests before now have an added advantage.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The publishers distanced themselves from the scandal, saying that all they do is release tests that are used to analyse the students’ preparedness.</strong></p>
<p><strong>“If KNEC used our content, then we don’t have any issue with them. Our books have been used for the past years,” the director at the company responded.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Education CS George Magoha was adamant that no leakage had occurred while addressing the press on Wednesday, March 24. Magoha had earlier on warned private schools, suppliers, police officers, teachers and students of exams cheating.</strong></p>
<p><strong>“This ministry will not take cheating lightly, and this is why we are sending a warning to all those planning to confuse our children or parents that the full force of the law will be used against those found culpable,” said Magoha.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Education stakeholders said that they would keenly follow the developments to see whether Magoha would take action against KNEC. The council said that it would issue a statement on the matter.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Marking of the 2021-2022 KCPE tests will commence in mid- March, with Magoha shifting focus to the KCSE exams which commenced on Monday, March 14.</strong></p>

<h5><strong><a href="https://newspro.co.ke/category/knec-news/">Knec News 2022</a>: The Ministry of Education has set the stage for the 2021 national examinations after issuing the keys for the containers where the <a href="https://newspro.co.ke/category/knec-news/">KCPE</a> and <a href="https://newspro.co.ke/category/knec-news/">KCSE 2021 exams</a> material will be stored.</strong></h5>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will use approximately 479 containers to store examinations. The containers are normally based at Deputy County Commissioners’ office.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has stated that more than 200,000 teachers will be engaged for administration and management of both Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to be conducted between March and April this year.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>“In preparation for administration of these exams, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) requested the Commission to provide details of all centre managers, supervisors and invigilators, who will be engaged in this activity,” said the Commission in a memo to all TSC Regional Directors last month.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>TSC County and Sub-County Directors of Education were to identify and nominate centre managers, supervisors and invigilators to be engaged in the administration of exams.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>After their identification and vetting, the directors were expected to deploy them into the Contracted Professional (CP) system by February 4.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Class eight candidates will sit their KCPE exams on March 7 while those in Form 4 are scheduled to start their KCSE exams on March 11.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Some 1,225,698 candidates registered to sit the 2021 KCPE, which was an increase of 34,085 compared to 2020.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>For 2021 KCSE, there was a 10.42 per cent increase compared to last year. Some 832,026 candidates will sit their KCSE compared to 752,602 last year.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>All other classes, from Pre-Primary 1 to Class 7 and Form 1 to 3 are expected to have closed by March 3 to pave way for a conducive examination environment.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Human face</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Magoha has constantly affirmed that the exams have been set with a human face and that candidates can handle all the papers.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>“President Uhuru Kenyatta directed us that we must ensure exams have a human face and that is precisely what we have taken into account so the children need not be afraid,” assured Magoha.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The CS has also said that the duty at hand is for candidates to prepare themselves to write the exams.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>“I want to thank those who have worked with other experts to develop questions, which have now formed the tests for the exams to be done in March and in December,” the CS said.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The CS also assured that the December exams will be ready for administration by the end of next month.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>“We are not only going to prepare for exams in March but we also must ensure that whoever takes over the Government next year will find the exam ready and all he will have to do is to implement it,” he said.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>All examination centres will have at least 30 candidates, with those with less than the set number merged.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>According to Magoha, the merger of examination centres with less than 30 candidates is critical and is part of ensuring efficiency and deterring examination related malpractices.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Magoha said that since 2015, enrolment of candidates in primary and secondary schools, both public and private has increased, which has led to rising costs in terms of payment of centre managers, supervisors, invigilators, security officers and drivers.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>This, he said, has been coupled with the high cost of delivering examination materials to schools together with an inadequate number of security personnel to offer security in the examination centres, which has necessitated the change in approach by revising the number of examination centres.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>“The Ministry believes that with the reduction of examination centers, monitoring will be conducted more effectively and efficiently to deter the occurrence of examination related malpractices and maintain the integrity of the examination,” said Magoha two months.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Last month, Magoha led senior education officials traveled abroad for the final inspection of the 2021 national exams ahead of shipment.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The exams, which are ready for administration, were expected to be shipped into the country mid this month.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>KNEC is gearing up for a tight schedule this year, as it will be expected to deliver five national examinations next year for the first time ever.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The exams are also to be delivered in an election year but the Ministry assured that there will no be changes on the date set for exams.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>“This coming year will test whether the transformation we have done at Knec is sustainable or not and the reason is instead of having the two usual exams, we will have five and my orders from the President is that I give all my time to focus on delivery of these exams,” said the CS.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The five exams are 2021 KCPE and KCSE to be written in March while the 2022 KCPE and KCSE and Grade 6 exams are scheduled for December.</strong></p>

<p><strong>“The exams for December will be ready for administration which means it will not matter who takes over as president, we will have delivered what we have to for our children, who are at the centre of all this,” said the CS.</strong></p>

<p><strong>He said the exam is one of the transformative areas and has been successful.</strong></p>

<p><strong>“Six years ago and nobody wanted to be associated with Knec. Now there are many people who will come to see how we are doing it. So forget about politics. Our children going to universities are much better,” he said.</strong></p>

This is the most effective and fastest way of checking for the results. To get KCPE results 2021/2022 by SMS a candidate is required to send an SMS with your Index Number to 20076.</p>
<p>The service is available via the three network providers in the country Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom networks. Send the SMS in the Format: IndexNumberKCPE. Do not leave a space between Index number and KCPE; Also write KCPE in Capital letters.</p>

<h2><strong>Release Of Examinations Results</strong></h2>
<p>The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to bring the following information to the attention of all institutions presenting candidates for the KNEC examinations:</p>
<p>Examination Results Slips and Printouts<br />
Each of the institutions that enter candidates for the KNEC examinations shall receive a hard copy of the institution’s examination results printout and result slips which captures the following information:<br />
1. Institution’s Code and Name<br />
This appears on the top left side of the printout. The institution’s code is a unique number by which an examination centre is identified by the Council. This is the number that an institution should always quote whenever communicating with KNEC.<br />
2. Candidates Details<br />
Below the institution’s name and code are details of the candidates. These details include the index number of the candidate, year of examination, gender, individual subject grades and the mean grade.</p>
<p>The important features of the examination results are as indicated below:-</p>
<p>X – denotes an absent candidate. A candidate is declared absent if he/she did not sit for one or all papers in the examination. However, for the KCPE examination results, the symbol AB indicates an absence;<br />
Y- denotes that the candidate was involved in an examination irregularity. For the KCPE examination results, the symbol 00 indicates an irregularity;<br />
P- denotes that the candidate’s examination results have been pended due to infringement on the entry requirements for the examination e.g. incorrect KCPE details for entry in KCSE examination;<br />
W- denotes that the candidate’s examination results have been withheld on suspicion that the candidate has been involved in an examination malpractice and investigations are ongoing;<br />
U- denotes ungraded examination results due to infringement of the awards criteria.<br />
Mean Grade Award Descriptions<br />
Mean grade will be X, if a candidate is absent in all subjects<br />
Mean grade will be Y , if one or more subjects are cancelled.<br />
Mean grade will be U, if the entry requirements for the KCSE examination are not met<br />
Mean grade will be CRNM, if the course requirements for the Teacher education, Business and Technical examinations are not met<br />
Mean grade will be P, if results are pended<br />
Mean grade will be W, if the examination results are withheld;<br />
The details of pended, withheld and irregularities are communicated to the institution through the Sub County Director of Education at the time of release of the examination results and are received by the institutions at the same time with the examination results.</p>
<p>Release Of Certificates<br />
Once certificates for a specific examination are ready for collection/dispatch from KNEC, the institutions shall be informed through the mass and print media, Sub County Directors of Education and/or the heads of institutions:</p>
<p>All certificates for regular candidates are issued through the Heads of Schools/Institutions and to private candidates through the Sub County Directors of Education.<br />
The Kenya National Examinations Council reserves the right to withdraw a certificate for amendment or for any other reason should this be necessary.</p>
<p>Upon the release of KCPE and KCSE examinations, the candidates can access their results through SMS number provided during the official release of results. The KCPE candidates are expected to access their result slips through the KNEC website immediately after release of the examination in their respective schools.</p>

<strong>CAUTION TO CANDIDATES</strong></p>
<p><strong>You are not allowed to leave the examination room before the end of the period allocated to the paper except with special permission from the Supervisor. NO CANDIDATE IS PERMITTED TO LEAVE MAY TAKE A QUESTION PAPER OR ANSWER SHEET/SCRIPT OUT OF THE EXAMINATION ROOM.</strong><br />
<strong>Do not leave a sheet of paper you have written on or your answers in such a position that another candidate can read them. You should not give or obtain unfair assistance, or attempt to do so, whether by copying or in any other way, and your work should not show proof of such assistance.</strong><br />
<strong>No communication whatsoever in whatever manner between candidates or with outsiders during the examination.</strong><br />
<strong>You are not allowed to have in your possession or in your proximity while in the examination room, any book, notes, papers or any other materials whatsoever except the correct question papers and any materials expressly authorized by the Kenya National Examinations Council.</strong><br />
<strong>You must return immediately to the Supervisor any question paper that smuggles, has errors or is badly printed.</strong><br />
<strong>You must not take any unused paper out of the examination room. Any rough work must be done on the official question paper.</strong><br />
<strong>Any misconduct or causing of disturbance in or near the examination room will be treated as an examination irregularity.</strong><br />
<strong>Cell phones or any other electronic communication device are prohibited in examintion centres. Any candidate caught in possession of a cell phone/any other electronic communication device will have his/her results cancelled.</strong><br />
<strong>PENALTY FOR EXAMINATION IRREGULARITIES</strong></p>
<p><strong>The KNEC Act No. 29 of 2012 Offences and Penalties stated in Section 27 to 40 for cases of examination irregularities will apply. Some of the highlights in the Sections state that:</strong><br />
<strong>A candidate who commits an examination irregularity in any examination paper will have the results for the whole subject cancelled. Such a candidate will not be entitled to a result and will be awarded result “Y” overall.</strong><br />
<strong>If there is evidence of wide-spread irregularities in any examination centre, the examination results for the whole centre will be cancelled.</strong><br />
<strong>Any person who:</strong><br />
<strong>Gains access to examination material and knowingly reveals the contents, whether orally or in writing, to an unauthorized party, whether a candidate or not, will be in violation of Section 27 of the Act and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding two million shillings or both;</strong><br />
<strong>Wilfully and maliciously damages examination material will be in violation of Section 30 of the Act and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or a fine not exceeding five million shillings or both;</strong><br />
<strong>Is not registered to take a KNEC examination but, with intent to impersonate, presents or attempts to present himself to take part of an enrolled candidate will be in violation of Section 31 of the Act, and shall be guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding two million shillings or both and shall be prohibited from taking an examination concluded by or on behalf of the Council for a period of three years.</strong><br />
<strong>Please ensure that you do not commit any examination irregularity to avoid your results cancelled.</strong><br />
