Schools in Kenya Portal: This is a girls-only public national boarding secondary school located in Barwaqo in Mandera East constituency, Mandera county, Kenya. The school boasts of being one of the best secondary schools in Mandera county. The school offers a quality education system under the Kenyan curriculum and the student needs are categorized under ordinary needs. The student population comprises mostly Cushitic communities with a few being students from the rest of Kenya. However, the school does much to ensure that it is an all-inclusive environment for all students so that no one feels left out.

Moi Girls Secondary School Mandera is located in Barwaqo sub-location, Bulla Mapya location, Central Mandera division, Mandera district in Mandera East constituency, Mandera county, Kenya. The school sits on a 30-acre piece of land and the acreage per enrollment is 13.9. The total enrollment is about 420 students ts and the total teaching staff are 18 qualified teachers. Neighborhood schools include Khadija Girls’ primary school, Mandera Furaha Academy Primary school, Mandera Secondary school, Madrasatu Sunnah, and Bulla Mpya Primary school.

The school is known for doing so well in both local and national examinations. The school usually appears among the top 10 in the county when KCSE results are released. The school produced the best student in the county, that is Fawsia Haji Haydai in the year 2015. She scored a B-. Despite her being the best student in the county, she was not happy with how she performed, saying that the terror attacks in the region have really affected their performance. Despite all these, the students still work hard and aim for higher grades year in and year out with much resilience.
