The Teachers Service Commission boss Dr Nancy Macharia has suspended leaves for teachers and other education stakeholders from now henceforth.</p>
<p>The Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’ i has also suspended leaves for police officers ahead of this year’s 2019 national examinations.</p>
<p>He also said that he will be on duty during the examination period.</p>
<p>Speaking at the Kenya School of Government today, Dr Matiang’ i said that there is a need for combined effort if the examinations have to be conducted effectively.</p>
<p>KCPE is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 29th October and end on Thursday 31st October.</p>
<p>The KCSE examination, on the other hand, will kick off on November 4 and end on November 27.</p>
<p><strong>NO LEAVE</strong><br />
Dr Matiang’ i further said that no security personnel, especially senior officers will be granted leave since this is a critical period when all eyes are on our children.</p>
<p>He further added that he will also be on duty during the examination period.<br />
On her part, Dr Nancy Macharia has announced the suspension of teachers’leaves.</p>
<p>According to her, 33, 720 teachers will be involved in the marking of KCPE and KCSE examinations.</p>
<p>She further noted that the number of examination irregularities had dropped significantly. So far only 30 cases were reported during last year’s examination.</p>
<p><strong>MORE RESOURCES</strong><br />
The CS also assured the public that the government is well prepared for the upcoming examinations.</p>
<p>According to him, the President has been focusing on empowering the security docket.</p>
<p>This year, there are more resources at their disposal- aircraft and police.<br />
Therefore, no harsh weather will hinder a smooth examination period.</p>
