Dr. Jeliah Nyakerario Akombe-Biography
Early life
Dr. Jeliah Akombe, an elder sister to Dr. Roselyn Kwamboka Akombe, hails from Nyagware village in Nyamira County. Born to an education officer and a teacher, Dr Jeliah Akombe spent most of her early years in Mwembe Tayari, Kisii before her parents relocated to Kisumu.
Education
Dr. Jeliah Akombe attended St. Mary’s Nyabururu Girls High School in Kisii County before she moved to the United States of America for further studies.
She has made great strides in the world of academia, since holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from New Jersey City University (NJCU), Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in family nurse practice from Walden University, a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Stamford University in Alabama and a Post Doctorate degree as a Psychiatric Mental Nurse Practitioner from the University of Massachusetts.

Work
Dr. Akombe has served in various capacities including as an Emergency Room nurse at University Hospital in Newark; a Family Nurse Practitioner with the Newark Department of Health and currently as a family nurse practitioner with United Healthcare and a psychiatric nurse practitioner with Foot Prints for Recovery.
Serenity Healthcare Associates
Dr. Akombe is also an entrepreneur who is committed to giving back to society. She is a co-owner of Serenity Healthcare Associates, a private practice located in New Jersey specializing in the comprehensive management of psychiatric mental health conditions, substance abuse and addiction.

With a long history of public service, Dr. Akombe is a visionary leader and the founder and CEO of the Kenyan Nurses Association of America (KNAA). KNAA stands as a testament to her dedication to advancing the standards of nursing and allied health professions, fostering education, and contributing to the overall enhancement of her community.
Dr. Jeliah Akombe’s multifaceted career, coupled with her commitment to patient-centered care, innovation, and leadership, positions her as a respected and influential figure in the healthcare field and within the Kenyan community.

The Venue was Magical, the ambience magnificent and the food was delectable, the program well done and the guests were absolutely awesome.

1. That KNAA is a registered non-profit organization and is here to represent ALL American nurses in the Americas and support those in Kenya and beyond.
2. That KNAA invites ALL leaders for all other existing organizations that seek to do similar work for Kenyan American nurses- to join us and work with us, as ONE- the numbers matter!

4. That KNAA is Actively engaged in the advocacy and support for many matters of interest including opening the NCLEX Testing center in Nairobi. Thanks to the on-going leadership of the state of MN for taking lead on this initiative as stated by our honorable Ambasador, Mr. Lazarus Amayo and encored by our CEO, Dr Akombe.
5. That the benefits for the membership are enormous, including ; providing mentorship programs, advocacy for nursing and nurses to promote and improve quality of care outcomes.
