Bumbe National Polytechnic is a public technical training institution located in Busia County, Kenya, along the shores of Lake Victoria. Formerly known as Bumbe Technical Training Institute (BTTI), it was upgraded to a National Polytechnic in 2025.

3. Electrical & Electronic Engineering
Since its inception in the year 2010, Electrical and Electronics Department is one of the fastest growing departments in Bumbe Technical Training Institute.
The department boasts of a competent team of trainers drawn from across the country, ready to impart knowledge, skills and the right attitude to our trainees.
The department has six workshops fully furnished with the state-of-the-art equipment and tools for learning. In addition, members of staff have the technical skills on the functionality of the equipment installed by AVIC International, China.
In order to conform to international standards of quality training of adults, the members of staff int he department have been sponsored by the Institution to undergo Andragogy training under the KEFEP program offered by SELKIRK COLLEGE, British Columbia (Canada).

6. Mechanical & Automotive Engineering
The Mechanical and Automotive Engineering department is one of the departments that attract a large number of students from which the best are selected for admission. The department ensures that the selected students receive quality training in both practical and theory lessons.
On completion of each course level, students are presented for CBET examinations. Our trainees have shown competence and ability in facing the challenges they meet in the field of modern vehicle technology. Admission Requirements
- Artisan/Level 4: KCSE or as per KNQA standards.
- Craft/Level 5: Minimum of KCSE Grade D (Plain).
- Diploma/Level 6: Minimum of KCSE Grade C- (Minus).
- Level 3: KCPE or as per KNQA.
How to apply for Admission at Bumbe National Polytechnic
We have May and September intake for Engineering and Technology courses. In addition, the is January, May and September intake for Business and Liberal Studies courses.
Before you apply for admission, carefully look at our BROCHURE to ascertain that you meet minimum qualification of the course. Admissions are on a first come first serve basis so be sure to complete your application early.
We offer Diploma, Certificate and Artisan regular programmes under KNEC and competency-based under TVET CDACC. Choose a programme that enable in fulfilling your educational and career goals.
The procedure for new admission: –
- Download and fill Application Form (BTTI/ADMN/ADM/F1) and attach copies of qualification certificates/ result slips and send to address below.
- The Registrar shall verify and approve the application for admission.
- All approved applicants will receive either offer of admission letters

Bumbe National Polytechnic Fees
GOVERNMENT FEES STRUCTURE FOR ALL NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC COURSES
Following your placement in the institution, you are eligible to apply on reporting the government scholarship, HELB & Bursary to assist you with your Training expenses. In case the government
scholarship and HELB do not cover the cost of your Training, the deficit will be paid by your
parent/guardian.
