Activist Okiya Omtatah’s 21-year-old daughter Annuarite Marisyanna succumbs to Malaria

Activist Okiya Omtatah’s family is in deep sorrow right now after one of their own passed on.

 21-year-old Maryann Marisyanna Annuarite died on Friday after suffering acute malaria. She had spent a week in a coma at a Nairobi based hospital.

Annuarite was a third-year student at Riara University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in diplomacy and international relations.

She is the third born out of Omtatah’s four children.

ODM leader Raila Odinga has already expressed his heartfelt condolences to Okiya Omtatah’s family for their loss.  He urged the activist to channel more pain and loss into fighting for policies aimed at improving the lives of Kenyan citizens.

“My friend Omtatah’ pole on losing your daughter Maryanne to acute malaria. I know the pain of losing a child, let it strengthen you to push for policies that improve lives for our people. God grant you the strength to cope with the loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers,” wrote Raila Odinga on his twitter handle on April 17, 2020.
