In 1965, shortly after Kenya gained independence, the institution was elevated to a secondary school with an initial enrollment of 120 students. The introduction of ‘A’ Level Arts classes in 1970 further strengthened the academic profile of the school, allowing students to pursue advanced studies until the program ended in 1986.

Over the years, it has built a reputation for outstanding performance in national examinations.
