Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic Location
JNNP is a technical institute under the Ministry of Education, State Department of Vocational and Technical Training established in the Year 1984, previously known as Rwika Technical Institute. The Institute is located 10 kms from Embu town and 2.5kms off Embu-Kiritiri road.
The institute has a current student population of over 3500 and offers over 50 courses in both the technical and business fields ranging from plumbing hairdressing, tourism, food production to ICT and social work and community development.
Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic prides itself in instilling core values to its students who make a mark in the various fields in the industries.

Courses Offered
- Engineering: Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Structural and Civil Engineering.
- Information Technology (ICT): Training in computer skills, networking, and short Computer Packages.
- Business and Entrepreneurship: Accounting, business management, and market studies.
- Hospitality and Tourism: Food Production, Hotel Management, and Fashion Design.
- Science and Agriculture: Laboratory science, sustainable agriculture, and community development.
Admission and Training Information
- Admission Criteria: Generally, Diploma requires a grade of C- and above, Certificate requires a D and above, and Artisan requires a D- or below.
- Admission: There are three admissions rounds each year: January, May, and September . Applications can be made through the Join Portal or directly at the college.
- Cost: The admission fee is often quoted as being around KES 4,500 .
- Funding: Students can access loans and government funding through HELB and HEF .
- Dual Training: The college collaborates with industries (such as Kenya Power and Thumaita Tea Factory) to provide training where the student spends some time in college and some time on the job to gain practical experience.
About the Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic
Science, technology and innovation Is a vital tool for socio economic development of any country state or region. Many session papers have highlighted the need for science and technology as critical ingredients in the development agenda of our country. In both Sessional Paper No.10 of 1965 and Sessional Paper No.1 of 1986, Research, Science and Technology were identified as critical drivers of economic growth and development in the country.
The government established the Ministry of Science and Technology in December 2005 in an effort to improve co-ordination in the development and application of science and technology.
It is against this background that Rwika Technical Institute was established on a self-help basis in 1984 by the local community. The institution was later renamed Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic in recognition of the vital role the former minister, the late HON. DR. Jeremiah Mwaniki Nyaga played in the establishment of the institute. JNNP is situated approximately 15Km from Embu town and 2.5Km off Embu – Kiritiri main road in Mbeti Location, Gachoka Division, and Mbeere South Sub-County of Embu County.
JNNP boasts of over 30 years in the provision of technical and vocational education and training to Kenyans from all walks of life in the country equipping them with the requisite skills and capabilities that enable them earn a living and also make meaningful contributions to the country. JNNP has over the years grown significantly in terms of physical infrastructure, courses offered, student enrollment and curriculum development consistent with its status as a technical training and vocational institute

GOVERNMENT FEES STRUCTURE FOR ALL NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC COURSES
Following your placement in the institution, you are eligible to apply on reporting the government scholarship, HELB & Bursary to assist you with your Training expenses. In case the government
scholarship and HELB do not cover the cost of your Training, the deficit will be paid by your
parent/guardian.
