The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarships for KCPE 2021/2022 candidates who will join secondary school in May 2022 

CS Magoha has today on March 28, 2022 released the 2021/2022 KCPE results for the 2021 cohort. KCPE 2021/2022 candidates from needy backgrounds are who meet the selection criteria for the 2022 JKF scholarship programme are advised to apply as soon as the portal is activated to bag the limited slots in time.

About Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarships 2021-2022

The release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE Knec Results is the ultimate source of joy and pride especially for top performing candidates whose parents or guardians can easily raise secondary school fees.

On the other hand, this big event may usher in an era laden with stress and anxiety catalysed by lack of school fees.

This is where the reputed and renowned Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship fund comes in.

Since its inception in 1968, the JKF Scholarship Fund has incessantly improved access to education and transition rates via scholarships and mentorship given to academically gifted promising Kenyan orphans and those from vulnerable backgrounds.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship Programme- Scope, Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Scope- The JKF fund covers Kenyan students who are academically gifted but vulnerable students in public secondary schools.

It has a wider scope ranging from financial aid to mentorship programmes.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship policy

The JKF Programme covers tuition fee and uniform for all beneficiaries annually.

Selection criteria and eligibility 202-2022

As per the requirements of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution, affirmative action is accorded priority during selection of successful applicants-beneficiaries.

Affirmative action is a system whereby an organization takes into account an applicant’s religion, caste, nationality and sex to ensure equity.

This therefore means that an applicant must be academically endowed and come from an impoverished-needy family.

Candidates with disability are given priority.

JKF Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship opportunities 2021, one must:

Be a Kenyan citizen

Have sat for KCPE in the previous year

Score the Minimum KCPE marks set by the organization-kindly note that this varies annually, depending on the number of mandatory examinable subjects

Demonstrate high discipline levels

Be orphaned or come from an extremely impoverished background

Get placement or admission in a Kenyan public secondary school

N/B: needy but academically endowed KCPE candidates from Kenyan public primary schools are advised to apply since the organization’s affirmative action favours them.

The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship list of mandatory documents, Checklist 2021-2022

The applicant need to attach copies of the following mandatory documents to the application form

Birth certificate

KCPE Results Slip-2020

Recommendation letter from Local authorities

Death Certificate or Burial Permit of the deceased parents or parents

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, JKF- extension of Scholarship

JKF beneficiaries must continue posting impressive scores to qualify for renewal of the scholarship fund annually.

Kindly note that the JKF scholarship board of directors is at liberty to discontinue the Scholarship any time if the beneficiary does not attain an average mark of 50% in their terminal examination every year.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship- Conditions for withdrawal of scholarship

The JKF scholarship selection board can withdraw scholarships if:

The beneficiary fails to attain an average score of 70 per cent of the overall during terminal examinations every year

Verifiable evidence emerges indicating that the candidate has double sponsorship.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarships Selection Procedure and Verification of Results

Conditions for selection and approval 

The JKS scholarship Selection process emphasises on transparency, objectivity and inclusivity.

Applicants are consequently subjected to rigorous interviews covering all counties.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship Selection Panel 2021

Interview panelists comprise of JKF staff, JKF alumni, partners and Ministry of Education officials.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship Verification of Results for KCPE 2020-2021 Applicants

To verify the interview results, home visits are done by a separate panel comprising of JKF staff, primary school heads and local administrators.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship list of beneficiaries and Form One Selection Results 2021

Over 10,000 stidents have benefitted from the Scholarship fund.

Successful applicants for the 2021-2022 Academic Year will be notified once the form one selection results are processed by the JKF scholarship board.

Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship Commissioning Ceremony 2021

All successful applicants are commissioned through an award ceremony.
